This weekend we got to participate in Freedom Weekend with our Youth Group…we have a child and a preschooler, so I relish the chance to do something with our youth. Friday night we helped serve and replenish food for the group…even our oldest enjoyed it! Saturday we took pizza to the 6th and 7th grade boys and on our way back from making sure the heat was working at the church, we stopped by our sweet friend, Mimi Jennifer’s house. She is Jeremy’s assistant, but since we came there, she has been like a grandma to our boys. She hosted the fantastic group of 10th, 11th, and 12 grade girls!!! I remember when these girls would serve in the preschool when Boo was just a year old…they remember it too…they are sweet girls!!
They were about to leave to head to the church for a session, but they had all sorts of goodies out, and for Boo and Peanut, it was like Trick or Treating in Mimi’s house! Before I could blink, Boo had a bag full of goodies ready to devour! We left right after the girls did and when we got in the car, the boys gave me their bags. I glanced at what was in it…Cheez-Its, Cookies, mini boxes of cereal, roll-ups, and more. I casually said to Boo…Wow, that’s a lot of stuff in there. I can’t believe Mimi gave you all of that!
He announced…”Yeah, she treats me good.”
Jeremy and I just looked at each other and smiled.
No matter the circumstances there are a few people who are always right there, willing to extend that hand of prayer, support, and love, just when you need it most. It’s a small group of people, but it’s the perfect amount that the Lord has lavished on us. We couldn’t have asked for anything more for our kids!!! We feel immeasurably blessed by the ones who love on our kids, in turn, loving on us.
