Braves Game!

Every year I look forward to a Braves game…but this one is EXTRA SPECIAL!! :)  This year Bobby Cox was honored in the Braves Hall of Fame for his years of service as the Manager.  LOVE us some Bobby…he was a good man and a good friend to our family.

This year, my family came up to enjoy the luncheon and the game…and we got to spend a few innings with them! I had a shirt made which has my maiden name on it (Burdette) and our family number on it (33).  I haven’t had a Braves shirt in a few years, and since all the boys had one, I had to get one too!  We spent some time in the museum…

And running the bases in the SkyField…is he not the cutest thing EVER??

And then, in the box with the fam…my two aunts and uncles were there, along with Nolan and Lewis too.  I wished Danny and Alison could have come…they are engaged and cute as ever!  Nolan’s teammate, Hudson Randall, joined us too with his family and my boys were in heaven then! They like Huddy…he pitches for the Gators!

And speaking of Gators…

The boys got Gator hats straight from the College World Series.  Thanks Aunt Nene!!!

Go Braves!

Happy Birthday Nolan!

A few days ago my cousin Nolan turned 20. I can’t believe he’s TWENTY! I remember when he was born!!! His parents, my sweet aunt and uncle, appropriately had a birth announcement made that was like a pitcher “delivering” a pitch to the catcher (aka…doctor). It was hilarious…so much that I still remember it. :) Nolan, being born in Texas, was named after…duh, Nolan Ryan. :) You can’t tell we are big baseball fans, can ya?? I didn’t think it was obvious or anything.

So, if you know me personally, you probably know my cousin plays baseball in college…we are huge fans of him and his Gator team.  My oldest has pretty much memorized the whole team and knows their nicknames and my youngest likes to imitate all of them.  I don’t believe in coincidences, so the fact that my youngest son loves baseball and looks like Nolan as a baby kid, well, I just think that was God’s unique gift to me.  I say often how much my youngest reminds me of Nolan as a young kid.  It’s funny.

Nolan – The boys wanted to make something for you for your big day…unfortunately we are short of time these days, so let me just tell you how this was going to work…

After the fabulous weekend you had, the boys (including Jeremy) wanted to make you a video re-enacting your weekend…everything from the stops at shortstop to the game winning single you had…including the shaving cream in the face.  Can you just imagine Noah doing all that???

Every day I get a quiz on what Nolan does or what number he is… you see, yesterday in the morning Noah got out every magnetized number and letter and put them on the fridge…he found the number 4 and comes running and screaming in my room…MOM, this Nolan’s number.  Yes, baby it is, momma says. :)  Then, while playing baseball in the house (we have a decent size family room), he acts like he is at first, scoots a little off, and says Nolan does this…and then takes off running and slides as if stealing a base.  And if that wasn’t enough…he then takes a play bat, makes either Jeremy or I pitch to him, and when he hits it, which is often, he takes off running….hands in the air…yelling something about winning the game.  I get much laughter out of all of this…and so does my momma.

I believe someone once saud that mimic and copying is the highest form of flattery, right?  Well, if that’s the case, you are most definitely flattered in our house…as if you didn’t know that already!?!

Nolan – God’s plan for you is perfect.  It may not always be easy, but always worth it. We are so proud of you and all God has accomplished through you.  May you seek to continue serving Him all the days of your life.  We love you.

It’s always a treat to take in a baseball game…I don’t take it for granted AT ALL! My sister-in-law Kate got David tickets to the GA/GA TECH baseball game played at Turner Field for his birthday…we were thrilled!!!! We also knew that our good friends, and divided family, the Church’s would most likely be there too!  So, we all got to sit together and have a blast…even if Tech lost. :(

So, here are a few pics from the event! Like I said before, the Church’s are a house divided…so the girls wear GA stuff and the boys wear Tech stuff.

They got themselves on the big screen three times by dancing around…

It was a great night! Thanks Aunt Kate!!!

Happy Weekend!

Ahhh, Memorial Day weekend…the unofficial start to summer “bacation” (as Boo would say) and we kicked it off right with a trip to the Zoo yesterday! Oh, gracious I have never been to the Atlanta Zoo, and Jeremy hadn’t been in like 15 years, so we took Boo and enjoyed a few hours there. Panda bear was totally worth it and just experiencing so many animals in one place is totally awesome. Today hubby and I are taking in probably our only Braves game of the year. A sweet couple at church offered us their tickets, and let me tell you we were glad to take them off of their hands! Great seats and a parking pass! It’s nice to visit Turner Field too…my favorite spot? The museum, for obvious reasons, it’s just an opportunity to see my grandfather being honored in a wonderful place.

So, enjoy the weekend and I will post some pictures next week!

Baseball Practice

Here is Boo enjoying one of his first practices as a Rookie Brave:

Nice stance.

Here is Coach Eric helping Boo

Here he is on 1st Base:

And here is on 3rd base! That would be the corner of Jeremy to the left and that would be Boo waving and yelling, what? Oh yeah, he was yelling, HI MOM!!!!! (The whole Bill Cosby syndrome – the dads teach them all they know about the sport and the first chance the boy gets when he scores or does something great, he says “Hey Mom!”)
