A few days ago my cousin Nolan turned 20. I can’t believe he’s TWENTY! I remember when he was born!!! His parents, my sweet aunt and uncle, appropriately had a birth announcement made that was like a pitcher “delivering” a pitch to the catcher (aka…doctor). It was hilarious…so much that I still remember it.
Nolan, being born in Texas, was named after…duh, Nolan Ryan.
You can’t tell we are big baseball fans, can ya?? I didn’t think it was obvious or anything.
So, if you know me personally, you probably know my cousin plays baseball in college…we are huge fans of him and his Gator team. My oldest has pretty much memorized the whole team and knows their nicknames and my youngest likes to imitate all of them. I don’t believe in coincidences, so the fact that my youngest son loves baseball and looks like Nolan as a baby kid, well, I just think that was God’s unique gift to me. I say often how much my youngest reminds me of Nolan as a young kid. It’s funny.
Nolan – The boys wanted to make something for you for your big day…unfortunately we are short of time these days, so let me just tell you how this was going to work…
After the fabulous weekend you had, the boys (including Jeremy) wanted to make you a video re-enacting your weekend…everything from the stops at shortstop to the game winning single you had…including the shaving cream in the face. Can you just imagine Noah doing all that???
Every day I get a quiz on what Nolan does or what number he is… you see, yesterday in the morning Noah got out every magnetized number and letter and put them on the fridge…he found the number 4 and comes running and screaming in my room…MOM, this Nolan’s number. Yes, baby it is, momma says.
Then, while playing baseball in the house (we have a decent size family room), he acts like he is at first, scoots a little off, and says Nolan does this…and then takes off running and slides as if stealing a base. And if that wasn’t enough…he then takes a play bat, makes either Jeremy or I pitch to him, and when he hits it, which is often, he takes off running….hands in the air…yelling something about winning the game. I get much laughter out of all of this…and so does my momma.
I believe someone once saud that mimic and copying is the highest form of flattery, right? Well, if that’s the case, you are most definitely flattered in our house…as if you didn’t know that already!?!

Nolan – God’s plan for you is perfect. It may not always be easy, but always worth it. We are so proud of you and all God has accomplished through you. May you seek to continue serving Him all the days of your life. We love you.
